PPG recently completed its purchase of Arsonsisi’s powder coatings manufacturing business for an undisclosed amount.
Arsonsisi is an industrial coatings company based in Milan, Italy.
The purchase includes a powder manufacturing plant in Verbania, Italy, which is highly automated and small- and large-batch capable. Arsonsisi’s powder business had sales of approximately $15 million last year.
The purchase will allow PPG to have metallic bonding capabilities in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
PPG is investing in powder capabilities worldwide. Powder coatings can be reclaimed or reused during application. They have high transfer efficiency, enhanced durability, and offer low volatile organic compounds emissions.
The company also recently agreed to divest certain business activities in Senegal, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Gabon, and Algeria to Océinde, an industrial group based in France.
PPG employees will join Océinde, and Océinde will continue to offer the existing range of products through a licensing and distribution agreement.
Olivier Bouin, currently PPG general manager for Architectural Coatings Africa French Overseas and Suriname, will join Océinde as general manager for the trade architectural coatings market in Africa.
Océinde supplies PPG with specialty materials. It performs a range of business activities, including architectural coatings distribution and manufacturing, in Europe, the Indian Ocean, and Africa.
