Gov. Tom Wolf recently visited Aliquippa to encourage business development in the region.

During the Wolf administration, the city has received more than $11 million through various funding programs.

More than $7.7 million in funding supports the East End Development Site, which Wolf visited with Mayor Dwan Walker; Sam Gill, city manager; Lew Villotti, Beaver County Corporation for Economic Development president; Cheryl Moon-Sirianni, Pennsylvania Department of Transportation District 11 executive director; and Department of Community and Economic Development representatives.

State investments at the site have helped remove blighted properties and prepare land near the Route 51 interchange for future business development.

“Over the course of my administration, I have been committed to making investments in towns and cities across the commonwealth—and Aliquippa is a great example of the benefits that communities can realize through strategic planning and support,” Wolf said. “These continued investments will help improve quality of life for all Pennsylvanians and ensure that our commonwealth remains the best place in the nation to live, work, and play.”

Other Aliquippa investments include improving pedestrian and vehicular safety on Fifth Avenue through the Multi-Modal Transportation Program, updating land-use regulations, and demolishing commercial buildings at the East End Development site.
