The Senate Majority Policy Committee will host a discussion and workshop today focusing on the negative effects of the COVID-19 shutdown on Northeastern Pennsylvania employers and employees.
“We need a serious discussion about how we can help assist our local employees and employers as they try to safely rebuild,” committee chairman Senator David G. Argall (R-Schuylkill/Berks) said. “There is no doubt that the Governor’s shut down has left an economic impact on many of our regional employers. Some employers even had to make the heart-breaking decision to close after decades in operation. It is our goal for this workshop to talk with these employers and employees so that we can listen to their concerns and find solutions to safely help provide for the future of this region.”
There will be four panel discussions followed by the workshop, which will include David Taylor from the Pennsylvania Manufacturers’ Association and Gene Barr from the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry; Anthony Frabbiele from Meadows Racetrack and Casino and Christy Pantaleano from the PA Horseman’s Association; Cindy Levi from Geno Levi Salon and Johnny Humble from Humble Carpet; and Aaron Shenck from PAPSA and Dr. Steven Shapiro, UPMC chief medical officer.
