Timberlane, a manufacturer of high-performance materials, recently launched Red Cape Essentials, a personal protection equipment (PPE) company.

Timberlane, headquartered in Montgomeryville, is best known for window shutters, began manufacturing face masks in March in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The company has assembled more than 1 million face shields and hired more than 300 temporary workers.

“After experiencing a tremendous demand for emergency PPE products such as face shields and intubation shields, coupled with the significant challenges associated with reopening society and businesses as a result of COVID-19, we decided to create a new and permanent business which will focus on personal safety products, protective barriers and other engineered solutions focused around social distancing,” Timberlane Founder and CEO Rick Skidmore said.

Red Cape Essentials will manufacture safety and social distancing products for schools, restaurants, manufacturing, transportation, offices, and retail clients.

There is strong demand for products that allow people to interact with one another safely, the company said.

Red Cape Essentials recently purchased a 30,000 square-foot facility. The company expects the building to be in operation by the end of the month.

The company anticipates the creation of approximately 50 to 75 positions within the first year of operation.
