The Port Authority of Allegheny County recently selected Michael Baker International, a Pittsburgh-based engineering, planning and consulting services firm, to help the port authority develop a 25-year vision plan.
“The plan will set a high bar for a reliable, seamless and efficient transportation network, informed by diverse public input,” Justin Miller, Michael Baker International project manager – planning, said. “We’re excited to be working with great partners like E. The plan will include goals for enhancing mobility for the county’s residents, redeveloping initiatives throughout Allegheny County, and attracting more riders while promoting sustainability and regional equity.
The plan will focus heavily on reaching under-served and under-resourced communities.
Michael Baker proposed a public and stakeholder outreach approach that balances understanding the community’s needs and interactively educating stakeholders on the benefits of transit-oriented communities.
The firm also proposed recommending a financial plan and producing the final report and action plan, identifying and prioritizing new investment opportunities, and market/travel analysis.
The Port Authority of Allegheny County provides more than 63 million rides annually.
