Elliott Group held a groundbreaking ceremony Tuesday for its new test facility campus in Jeannette, Penn.

Elliott Group, a wholly owned subsidiary of Tokyo-based Ebara Corp., designs, manufactures, and services turbomachinery and is based in Jeannette.

The new $60 million test facility is located at the former Jeannette Glass property, which Elliot Group acquired from the Westmoreland County Industrial Development Corporation (WCIDC) in March 2018.

The company will use the facility to conduct testing for its recently acquired product line of cryogenic pumps and expanders. The test facility campus will include six buildings, with about 30,000 square feet under roof. Construction is expected to last approximately 18 months, and nearly 130 new jobs will be created once the test facility is fully operational.

Elliott Group worked with a construction engineering firm to design the testing facility over the past year and also worked with regulatory authorities to secure an air permit for the facility.

“Cryogenic pumps are a recent addition to Elliott’s product line,” Michael Lordi, CEO of Elliott Group, said. “The ability to test these units prior to shipping is a key element of the manufacturing process, and is essential to Elliott’s expansion plans.”
