Eureka Resources received a $280,000 grant through Pennsylvania’s Pipeline Investment Program (PIPE) to expand a natural gas pipeline in Standing Stone Township, Bradford County, Rep. Tina Pickett (R-Bradford/Sullivan/Susquehanna) said Tuesday.
“This grant is another excellent example of how the impact fees derived through Act 13 of 2012 are being used to benefit residents in our region and create jobs,” Pickett said. “I am pleased this project was approved for funding and look forward to its completion.”
Eureka Resources plans to use the funding to construct a 1,200-foot, 4-inch carbon steel natural gas pipeline to serve its oil and gas wastewater treatment facility in the township. The project will interconnect with the Scheffler pipeline and provide natural gas to 66 acres of developable land.
The company, which is based in Williamsport, will contribute $280,000 in matching funds toward the project. It also plans to expand its operations and add 35 full-time jobs.
PIPE grants are used to construct the last few miles of natural gas distribution lines to business parks and existing manufacturing and industrial enterprises, which will result in the creation of new economic base jobs in the Commonwealth while providing access to natural gas for residents.
Additionally, Wyalusing Township, Bradford County, received a grant of $14,216 through the state’s Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program to develop a master plan for the former Campton Elementary School property. The township is aiming to transform the site into a community park. The program is supported by the Marcellus Legacy Fund created by Act 13.
The Commonwealth Financing Authority approved the funding for both projects.
