Blairsville-based PHOENIX Rehabilitation and Health Services recently purchased Black Mountain PT in Black Mountain, N.C., making the North Carolina office PHOENIX’s 100th location in the United States.
Black Mountain PT provides physical therapy services to patients in the Asheville, Black Mountain, and Swannanoa Valley areas. The office has been led for the past 11 years by Clifford Shulman.
“PHOENIX Rehabilitation and Health Services was a logical next step for me and Black Mountain PT because they understand that patient care should be skilled, effective and compassionate,” Shulman said. “I love that the company was built by PTs (physical therapists) for PTs. It shows their focus is the same as ours—helping patients return to a healthy, pain-free lifestyle,”
Shulman will continue to lead the office. The practice includes physical therapists Jennifer Lias, Cecilia Pepera, and Sidney Tavss.
Black Mountain’s expertise and experience matches PHOENIX’s, the company said.
The details of the deal have not been disclosed.
Founded in 1997, PHOENIX provides occupational therapy, workplace health services, and physical therapy. It has locations in Alabama, Delaware, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia, and Washington, D.C.
In December, Boston-based Audax Group purchased PHOENIX from Pittsburgh-based 3 Rivers Capital, which owned the company since 2013.
