Marquette Savings Bank revealed yesterday the architectural design for the new Marquette Operations, Training and Innovation/Learning Center in Erie, Pa.

The $7 million project will more than double the space of Marquette’s current headquarters.

“Our business has grown significantly over recent years and continues to grow, putting our Peach Street headquarters at capacity,” Marquette Savings Bank CEO Michael B. Edwards said. “This project enables us to keep pace with our current growth with an eye on the future. While we could have expanded our operations anywhere, we felt it was important to enhance our presence within the city limits and more important, right here in downtown Erie.”

The Marquette Innovation Learning Center will take up approximately half of the space on the first floor.

In the center, new banking technology will be tested, and customers will learn how to apply available technologies to increase safety and convenience. The Innovation Center space will also feature a café that will be open to the public.

The remaining space on the first floor and the entire second floor will house the bank’s operational functions. The lower level will also feature a training facility and public meeting spaces.

“We are excited about the design of our new building and the statement it will make right here in the heart of downtown Erie,” Kelly Montefiori, COO of Marquette Savings Bank, said. “We hope it will not only help attract people and investors to the Innovation District but will add synergy to the entire effort.”

Erie architectural firm Weber Murphy Fox designed the center. It will be built by the Erie construction firm Considine Biebel & Company.

The adjacent building is being demolished and will be used as a staging area for construction of the new building. That process is almost complete. Construction of the new center is expected to be completed in July of 2020.

“We have been a leader in support of downtown revitalization, and this project is an opportunity for Marquette to demonstrate our commitment to the future of downtown Erie where Marquette found its start 110 years ago,” Edwards said.
