Tekni-Plex, headquartered in Wayne, Penn., recently signed a definitive purchase agreement to purchase three of Amcor’s Flexible Packaging business unit’s manufacturing facilities.
Tekni-Plex operates manufacturing sites across eight countries. It develops and manufactures products for multiple markets, including beverage, food, household, industrial, medical, personal care and pharmaceutical.
“The acquisition expands our complex packaging solution portfolio for medical device manufacturers, many of whom are our customers today. Tekni-Plex’s medical products businesses – Colorite, Natvar and Dunn – have been supplying these same customers globally for decades, and we will continue to deliver on their quality and service expectations,” Paul Young, Tekni-Plex president and CEO, said. “The acquisition of these three plants also brings us 150 highly qualified and experienced employees who form the backbone of the business. We are happy to welcome them to the Tekni team of 3,000 strong across the world.”
The new facilities are located in Ashland, Mass., and Madison and Milwaukee, Wis. They manufacturer medical device packaging supplies.
The deal is contingent on the closing of the merger between Amcor Limited and Bemis Co. and United States Department approval.
The purchase is Tekni-Plex’s 11th acquisition in the past five years. It is part of a strategy to grow the company through strategic add-ons and acquisitions.
