Groundbreaking on the new Conemaugh Health System Ebensburg Outpatient Center in Ebensburg was held Wednesday.
The 40,000-square-foot facility will offer a variety of outpatient services, including lab services and imaging, and will house primary- and specialty-care physician offices.
The building, located at the intersection of Route 219 and Route 22, will replace Conemaugh’s current center. The new, larger building will allow the facility to provide medical care and diagnostic services to a wider area.
“This new facility will allow Cambria County residents to access world-class health care in their own community,” Rep. Frank Burns (D-Cambria), who helped the facility secure state grant funding, said. “This will not only help keep residents healthy and vibrant but will also make our region more attractive for other business development. Health care is a major industry and one of the keys to the region’s economic future. We all know that our region has been decimated by the demise of the coal and steel industries, and diversification like this is key to the rebuilding process. I’m proud to have been an early and active supporter of this project.”
The facility will revitalize the area, providing economic vitality and new jobs, Burns said.
Construction is expected to be completed by 2020.
