The state Department of Community and Economic Development recently awarded a $1 million grant to support advanced manufacturing job training programs at the United Mine Workers of America Career Centers, Inc. facility in Prosperity, Greene County, Pennsylvania.
The training center is also undergoing renovations to repurpose the facility made possible by a $3 million state grant awarded in January.
“Many workers Greene County have been affected by job losses, particularly in the coal industry. We need to provide more options to help these workers find family-sustaining jobs,” Sen. Camera Bartolotta (R-46) said. “Completion of this training facility will be a strong step forward for the local economy and help promote our region as a leader in the manufacturing industry.”
The $1 million grant was awarded as part of the Manufacturing PA program, which was created in 2017 to promote manufacturing training programs in Pennsylvania.
