The Senate Majority Policy Committee hosted four events this week to discuss the impacts of Pennsylvania breweries on local and state economies as well as on community revitalization.

Participants in the tours and roundtables included lawmakers, brewers, economic development professionals, representatives from local bureaus and other stakeholders.

Sen. David G. Argall (R-Schuylkill/Berks) hosted a roundtable Monday at Yuengling Brewery in Pottsville. Yuengling is one of the top producing brewing companies in the United States Based on volume sold. It opened in 1829 and is the oldest operating brewery in the country.

“Yuengling’s facility in Schuylkill County has helped transform long-abandoned downtown buildings into productive properties and created quality jobs for community residents,” Argall said. “The company has created a positive ripple effect throughout the neighborhood, and their partnership with the local community deserves recognition.”

Other events were held this week at Tröegs Independent Brewing in Hershey and Neshaminy Creek Brewing Co. in Croydon.
