Reju, a French textile-to-textile materials regeneration company, recently opened a research and development center in Conshohocken. The location is the company’s first dedicated research facility in North America.
Technip Energies, a French technology and engineering company, owns Reju, and the facility will be located inside Technip Energy’s existing research center. This will allow Reju to benefit from Technip Energies’ expertise in catalysis, process development, technology integration and industrial scale-up, and help accelerate the deployment of recycling technologies and the development of next-generation circular solutions.
“I am excited to be joining such an innovative company and to be part of the team moving the technology towards industrialization and supporting the infrastructure for true post-consumer textile-to-textile recycling at scale,” Gregory Breyta, Reju research and development director, said.
Reju’s facility will focus on the early-stage feasibility to kilo-scale production of polyester recycling, mixed-fabric solutions, and circular chemistry pathways. It will support the development and validation of technologies intended for deployment across future regeneration hubs and is part of Reju’s strategy to build a closed-loop recycling ecosystem that converts discarded fabric and textiles into quality products.
The company’s research team will relocate from San Jose, Calif., where it developed a catalytic chemical recycling method breaking down polyester into reusable raw materials.
