Wabtec appoints Perez to Board of Directors

Pittsburgh-based Wabtec Corp., an equipment, systems, digital solutions and value-added services provider for the freight and transit rail industries, recently announced Juan Perez was appointed to the Board of Directors, effective Jan. 29.

Perez is executive vice president and chief information officer at Salesforce. He previously worked as a member of the executive leadership team at UPS where he was also chief information officer and engineering officer.

“Juan is a respected technology leader with extensive experience driving digital transformations for Fortune 500 companies,” Rafael Santana, Wabtec president and CEO, said. “As we continue to advance our digital solutions, his expertise in leveraging cutting-edge performance technologies across operations, engineering, and supply chain will be instrumental in strengthening our competitive edge and delivering greater value to our customers.”

At UPS, Perez was responsible for all technology and led the company’s adoption of new technologies such as artificial intelligence, virtual assistants, and virtual reality solutions for driver training.

Perez is an Institute of Industrial Engineers senior member and an Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology program evaluator.

He also serves on the Hershey Company board of directors, and the advisory boards for the School of Industrial and Systems Engineering at the University of Southern California and the School of Business at Georgia Tech.

At Wabtec’s annual stockholders meeting in May, Perez will be a nominee for election.
