Ohio company purchases Philadelphia-based equipment manufacturer PTR

Ohio-based Komar Industries, a designer and manufacturer of industrial waste and recycling processing systems, recently purchased Philadelphia-based PTR Baler and Compactor Co., an equipment manufacturer, for an undisclosed amount.

PTR specializes in designing and manufacturing vertical balers, stationary compactors, self-contained compactors, and related equipment. The company’s leadership team will become shareholders in the combined company.

Both companies see value in leveraging each other’s engineering and technological capabilities to further drive innovation within the waste and recycling industry.

Founded in 1977, Komar specializes in auger processing technology, including auger compactors, continuous feed systems, industrial shredders, flatteners/dewatering systems, and organic separation presses.

Founded in 1907, PTR has produced and sold more than 60,000 balers and compactors.
