CertainTeed, a Malvern-based developer of innovative and sustainable building products, plans to invest $100 million by 2026 to expand its roofing shingle manufacturing facility in Peachtree City, Georgia.

More than 65,000-square-feet of manufacturing and warehouse space will be added, more than doubling production capacity.

The announcement comes a few months after Saint-Gobain, CertainTeed’s parent company, announced its global Grow and Impact strategy. Saint-Gobain is a manufacturer and distributor of materials and services for the construction and industrial markets.

The Georgia facility will include upgrades to manufacturing equipment and building design that are expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions per production unit by 14 percent and reduce water and energy consumption.

“Today marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for our plant in Peachtree City – this is an investment in our company’s future ability to supply our growing customer base,” Carmen Bodden, CertainTeed Roofing Product Group vice president and general manager, said. “We will continue to look for ways to maximize our company’s positive impact for our customers and the communities where we operate while working to minimize our environmental footprint.”

More than $5 million in state and local tax incentives over the next decade will support the project.
