Clemens Food Group, a Montgomery County-based vertically-integrated pork processor, recently announced plans to expand its Hatfield operations.

The company will invest more than $228 million to construct a facility that supports its smoked meats and cooked sausage production.

Over the next three years, the new facility will retain 2,634 current jobs and create 87 full-time positions.

The Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) submitted a funding proposal for a $2.5 million Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program grant and a
$215,400 workforce development grant to help the company train workers.

“We are proud to be able to expand our operations in our home state of Pennsylvania,” Brad Clemens, Clemens Food Group president, said. “We wouldn’t have been able to do so without the support of the DCED, our vendor partners, and most importantly, our talented team members.”

Clemens Food Group has more than 25 farms in Pennsylvania, Indiana, and North Carolina. The company is currently growing in the hog farming, food production, and transportation industries.

It partnered with the PA Pork Producers, the PA Pork Strategic Investment Program, and Feeding Pennsylvania during the COVID-19 pandemic to provide more than $100,000 of pork products to food banks throughout the state.
