In conjunction with Operation HOPE credit counselors, FICO, an analytics software firm, will be hosting a free financial education online event today for greater Philadelphia area residents.

Attendees will learn about financial health and what comprises a FICO Score. FICO Scores are used in more than 90 percent of lending decisions, according to Mercator Advisory Group.

Operation HOPE will allow attendees to make appointments for free one-on-one credit coaching to develop a plan to achieve their financial goals.

“More than ever, consumers are concerned about their credit and financial health,” state Rep. Madeleine Dean (D-Montgomery County) said. “FICO’s Score A Better Future event is a valuable educational opportunity that not only provides information about the credit landscape but empowers people to take more control over their financial future. I [am] looking forward to participating in this virtual event with FICO and all the great non-profit partners who are dedicated to helping consumers in the community.”

Dean will speak at the event about the importance of financial education.

Partners for the event include the Greater Reading Chamber Alliance, the Greater Philadelphia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and the Berks County Latino Chamber of Commerce.
