Edinboro University will again host the Xavier and Tina Williams Summer Youth Business Academy. The academy is open to high school students from across the United States entering grades 10-12.

The academy will be hosted by the university’s School of Business June 9-13.

Participants will learn about finance, business strategy, marketing, management, team building, problem-solving, and financial planning for college.

Additionally, participants will work together to create a product or service that solves a common problem in society. Teams must then build and market their product or service. Products and services will be pitched in a venture capital-style presentation to a panel of judges comprised of Edinboro faculty and regional business leaders.

“This program has served more than one hundred students from over 50 schools in the last six years,” Scott Miller, dean of Edinboro’s School of Business, said. “Students learn about business networking and present business plans at the end of the week to a panel of judges from the business community.”

Students must be nominated by a teacher or guidance counselor and must complete the application by March 22.

Scholarships will be available from Edinboro alumnus Xavier Williams and his wife, Tina. The scholarship covers the cost of room and board along with academy fees.
