PharmaCann Penn Plant LLC, a PharmaCann Company, will construct a 36,000 square-foot, pharmaceutical-grade medical marijuana growing and processing facility in Lackawanna County, Penn.

The company recently purchased 18.28 acres of land from the Scranton Lackawanna Industrial Building Company (SLIBCO) to build the facility. The plot is located in the Scott Technology Park in Scott Township.

“The long-standing focus of the Scott Technology Park has been to nurture businesses at the cutting edge of their respective fields,” Bob Durkin, president of The Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce, said. “PharmaCann is doing just that by employing a team of highly skilled professionals both attracted to and drawn from our local talent pool.”

PharmaCann Penn Plant LLC received a license in July 2018 during the second phase of the Pennsylvania Medical Marijuana program.

PharmaCann was founded in 2014 and is the largest vertically-integrated and unified medical cannabis company. It has four dispensaries and two cultivation facilities in Illinois as well as four dispensaries and one cultivation facility in New York. In 2018, PharmaCann was purchased by MedMen Enterprises, a publicly-traded United States cannabis company which owns and operates 19 cannabis facilities in cultivation, manufacturing, and retail.

The Scott Technology Park currently has five buildings totaling 201,520 square feet with businesses employing 787 people.
