Camera Bartolotta

Sen. Camera Bartolotta (R-46) was appointed Monday to serve as the chair of the Senate Labor and Industry Committee for the 2019-20 Legislative Session.

The committee considers a broad range of issues related to employers and employees, including worker’s compensation, unemployment compensation, workplace safety, building codes, and workforce development.

“When I speak with community residents throughout the region about the issues they care about most, jobs and the economy are some of the biggest topics of conversation,” Bartolotta said. “Workforce development is one of the most important factors that employers consider when deciding where to expand or relocate. I am extremely pleased to be given the opportunity to lead a committee that is responsible for ensuring our businesses and employees are prepared to meet all of the demands of a 21st Century economy.”

In the 2017-18 Legislation Session, the Senate Labor and Industry Committee considered reforms to the Workers’ Compensation Uninsured Employers Guaranty Fund as well as changes to the State Workers Insurance Fund concerning firefighters and other first responders. It also reviewed modernization of the process of reviewing and updating the Pennsylvania Construction Code and changes to apprenticeship ratios in skilled trades as well as potential amendments to the Pennsylvania Family and Medical Leave Act.
