Huntley & Huntley hires new senior vice president

John Applegath

Huntley & Huntley Energy Exploration (HHEX), a company specializing in the development of natural gas resources in the Appalachian Basin, recently hired John Applegath as its senior vice president and chief operating officer.

Applegath will be responsible for operational and technical activities.

“We are thrilled to add John and his deep Appalachian experience to the HHEX team. As we move into development, John’s proven track record of driving operational excellence in this basin will be invaluable,” M. Chris Doyle, HHEX president and CEO, said. “HHEX’s initial delineation wells have outperformed expectations, and industry success in the deep Utica play is immediately adjacent to our position. John’s entrepreneurial spirit, operational and technical expertise, and deep knowledge of this asset will help us build upon that foundation.”

From 2014 to earlier this year Applegath served as senior vice president of operations at Range Resources. He was the company’s vice president of operations from 2009 to 2014, having joined the company in 2008.

Applegath also previously held positions at Anadarko Petroleum, ExxonMobil Corp. and Union Pacific Resources.

In April, HHEX hired Morrow Evans as senior vice president and chief financial officer. He formerly held the same positions at Lime Rock Resources.

HHEX operates more than 100,000 mostly contiguous acres in southwestern Pennsylvania.
