Pilot Chemical Co. opened its new, state-of-the-art Innovation Center in Pittsburgh, Pa., July 25. The center doubles the size of the existing Pilot Polymer Technologies laboratory.

Pilot Chemical, headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio, produces soap, laundry detergent, shampoo, and other products.

The center will develop new products and address customer needs. Nine employees were added.

The center is part of the company’s Technology and Innovation Initiative that includes investing $5 million in 2018, and more over the next five years, in technology and innovation.

“The construction of the Innovation Center reflects Pilot Chemical’s firm commitment to innovation and our customers,” Pilot Chemical CEO and President Pam Butcher, said. “With the opening of this Center and the planned opening of a Technology Center in Cincinnati in the near future, Pilot is ready for the future and the changing needs of the marketplace.”

Butcher attended the ribbon cutting ceremony with Patrick McCarthy, Pilot Chemical vice president of technology and innovation, and Paul Morrisroe, chairman of the board of directors.

Pilot Chemical was selected as a 2018 Top Workplaces honor by The Cincinnati Enquirer in June. The recognition was the result of an anonymous employee survey conducted by third-party research partner Energage.

Employees were asked for their feedback in multiple workplace culture categories.
